WC-MS CMS Search

"WC-CMS Search" is a DOT.NET and SQL application designed to integrate with Microsoft Content Management Server 2002. It provides real time search functionality by indexing CMS site(s) pages on the fly as they are created, edited or deleted.

Search Types

"Opt X CMS Search" provides simple and advanced search options. Searches can be performed by:
Any Word
Simply matches any one of the user specified keywords.
All Words
Matches all user specified keywords regardless of their order.
Match Phrase
Matches all user specified keywords in the order specified
Boolean
A Full Text Search which uses “and”, “and not” and “or” keywords in a search string to narrow down the search.
Near
A Full Text Search that finds and orders the results based on search keywords proximity.
Forms Off
A Full Text Search which matches plural and singular, as well as the gender and neutral forms of nouns, verbs, and adjectives as well as various tenses of verbs.

Order By

Results can be ordered by Title, Last Modified Date or Rank in ascending or descending order.
Whenever a Full Text Search option is selected, ranking is provided indicating the relevance (match quality) of the returned results.

CMS Metadata filtering

The "WC-CMS Search" engine indexes CMS Custom and Default properties such as Description, Last Modified Date etc.
Any number of Custom Properties defined in CMS Templates can be easily set-up within the search engine. Once set-up, these custom properties are automatically indexed, providing an additional level of search filtering.
Advanced search page can include multiple Custom Property filters with various match types that can be used to provide a hight level of control over the search results returned.

Attachments and Resources Search

"WC-CMS Search" supports indexing for Microsoft Word and PDF attachments.

As well as postings, "WC-CMS Search" also indexes documents in resource folders. When indexing non-text resources, metadata is collected and indexed allowing keyword searches for items such as images.

Search within results

A search within results option is available which runs a new search query within previously returned search results.

Customisation

The "WC-CMS Search" engine is easily extensible. API’s are provided which may be used to add, remove or modify information being indexed or cancel the indexing process for a particular Channel or Posting altogether.

With the help of custom properties Channels and Postings are easily flagged with a “do not index” flag. Items flagged in this manner will be ignored by the indexing service.

Administration

"WC-CMS Search" includes a web interface for re-indexing sites and managing Custom Properties remotely. A sample advanced search page is also provided for testing and as a template for extensions and customisations.

A console re-index application is also available that may be set-up as a scheduled task or run on demand.
